Bridge, West Yorkshire ***PHOTOS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS*** These
events form part of the CTC West Yorkshire Events Programme and are registered with the
CTC Tourist Competition and Brevet
de Randonneurs Mondiaux. This is a qualifying event for Paris-Brest-Paris.
The 600 km course has to be completed within 40
hours. There is an entry fee of £10.00 The
3 Coasts 600
consists of 2 stages. Stage 1 (381 km) goes out
to the first coast (the East), turning at Bridlington, and returning to
base. Stage 2 (227 km) goes out to the second coast (the West), visiting
Blackpool and Glasson Dock, and then to the third coast, situated at the
"weighvers' seaport" of Hollingworth Lake, returning to base by
way of England's longest continuous downhill road. Another 3 Coasts 600 uses the routes of the Spurn Head 400 and The Good Companions 200 to visit the 3 coasts in a different way. The East & West Coasts 600 bears marked similarities to the original 3 Coasts but misses out on some of the more interesting bits and also the third coast. The start and finish will be at
our customary event HQ at Mytholmroyd Sports and Community Centre, on Caldene Avenue,
Mytholmroyd, just off the A646 and approximately 1 mile from Hebden Bridge, which has a large
car park and is also easily accessible by rail (cycle-carrying trains stop
hourly at Mytholmroyd from both Leeds and Manchester, and more frequently
at Hebden Bridge). For
those wanting to arrive at the HQ on Friday night, floor space for
sleeping will be available, with a continental-style breakfast provided
early on Saturday before the start as part of the catering package. Food
will be available at the HQ before and during the event, and immediately
afterwards, on a “one charge – all you can eat” basis, in
addition to the commercially operated controls at which riders will call
en route. It will be possible for riders to sleep at the HQ on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. It will help us if you are able to bring a sleeping bag and mat with you.
There is also a Youth Hostel (01706 812340) at Mankinholes, approximately
5 miles away. The Tourist Information Offices in Halifax (01422 368725)
and Hebden Bridge (01422 843831) may be able to provide details of more
up-market accommodation in the area. Start:
